Largest Post Merger Integration in Europe - Germany/UK/Asia

When Commerzbank acquired Dresdner Bank in 2009 it could not have been more challenging. The world was in the midst of the biggest financial crisis and merging the second and the third largest German bank was clearly not a walk on the beach. Michael and his team were called in to to structure and mobilize the transformation and integration agenda. Based on his globally acknowledged experience from similar situations the newly formed bank executed the post merger integration with the highes level of discipline and rigor. Two and a half years later the bank successfully concluded what was back then the largest and most complex post merger integration in the financial service industry.

Global Payments Transformation - Switzerland

Michael was the global client partner who had ultimate delivery oversight for what analysts named one of the most complex and comprehensive payment platform renewals in the industry.

A 5-year multi-million infrastructure renewal initiative, deep legacy transformation project by a global bank with the purpose to offer a new innovative and ‘fit’ for change payments environment. Few banks choose to meet mandatory market changes by deciding to completely replace their entire payment stack, let alone undertaking a strategic approach to ensure greater flexibility long term. Furthermore, despite the vision of “a payment is a payment is a payment”, few banks have yet to move so many different payment types to be processed in a single, common hub. Bradesco, one of Brazil’s biggest banks, set out to reinvent banking for the digital age with an innovative business model. next Bank is a mobile-only bank that empowers millennials and integrates into their lifestyle. Functional design and the latest technology are at the core of this new approach.
Michael served as the global quality partner for one of the most inspirational build and launch initiatives for a new digital banking offering in Brazil

Core Banking Implementation - Hong Kong

An established private bank in Hong Kong asked Michael to perform a due diligence on its badly performing core banking renewal program. Within 6 weeks Michael and his team assessed the status of the activities, presented a turn around plan to the board which was ultimately accepted. Michael and the team the successfully restructured and managed the program in a very disciplined manner to ultimately successfully convert to the new platform just 6 month later.

Enterprise Data Warehouse - Austria

The board of one of the leading Austrian banking groups asked Michael to perform a due diligence on one of its most critical business and data technology transformation programs. Pleased with the results of the first two weeks due diligence phase the board asked Michael to join the steering group to help secure the successful conclusion of the program. Through Michael’s interception the bank finally successfully implemented the enterprise data architecture which today serves as the backbone for many of the most mission critical regulatory processes of the bank.

Core Banking & Post Merger - Austria

After acquiring P.S.K. by BAWAG in 2000 the bank had various integration challenges to master. Both core banking systems were outdated and by far not ready to serve as the new platform for the future growth platform for the newly merged banking group. So the board decided to start a core banking renewal program in parallel with the complex post merger integration.
Michael served as the responsible delivery executive for the implementation of the program which was ultimately successfully delivered after 3.5 years.

Core Banking - Poland

The client has signed a $114 million contract to implement a core-banking platform at PKO BP, Poland’s largest bank, as part of a consortium that includes Alnova Technologies Corp., a wholly owned Accenture subsidiary, and Polish IT company Softbank.
Michael served as the Global Quality Assurance partner at this largest core banking implementations in Central Eastern Europe.

Core Banking - Germany

Michael and the team have been called in to replace a global tier 1 strategy firm to establish and run the strategic program management function of the clients mission critical core banking replacement initiative. Managing global service providers like Accenture, SAP and many more were at the core of his responsibilities while serving as a trusted advisor to the CIO and deputy CEO.

Wealth Tech - USA

Tegra118 is the new leader in wealth technology who enables wealth and asset management firms and their advisors to deliver better outcomes and experiences to their investors, today and tomorrow. Being a Motive Partners portfolio company Tegra118 will be carved out from FISERV and transformed the firm to execute on it’s client centric strategy.
In his role as a Motive Industry Partner Michael serves as the Transformation Executive of Tegra118, where he is responsible for the transformation of the technology organization, the delivery model to support client delivery and product engineering, and integration of acquisitions.

New Bank Launch - Germany

As part of massive investment activity one of the leading global insurance groups decided to build a new bank to offer its existing insurance clients a modern and attractive banking offering. Michael served as the sales and delivery lead for the setup of the new bank. The new bank was successfully launched within 6 month which by then was one of the fastest bank launch initiatives in Europe.

Core Banking - South Africa

A leading South African bank was in the midst of its core banking renewal initiative based on the SAP core platform when it became evident that things do not progress as planned.
Michael was called in to perform a health check and provide a concrete recommendation how to bring the program back on track. After weeks of intense work with the clients key leaders and involved external parties concrete measures were identified and implemented which ultimately brought the program back on track.
